Hurrah! Tabuk is now a city

Vox populi, vox Dei!

Constituents of Tabuk overwhelmingly voted "Yes" for the conversion of Tabuk into a new city in a plebiscite held last Saturday.

The "Yes" got 17,066 votes. There were however 2,033 who voted for "No".

There were about five last precincts that were not counted in the municipal canvassing by the Comelec because it is immaterial anymore to continue counting them as the wide margin lead of "Yes" votes could not be offset. The precinct counts of those uncounted precincts however show that the "Yes" votes won over the "No" votes, according to the teachers.

As usual, a low voters turn out was observed at about 48 percent as a whole.

The cityhood of Tabuk is one of the major legislative accomplishments of Congressman Laurence Wacnang. It is a historic event for Tabuk and Kalinga province in general.

Just because the "Yes" vote won doesn't mean that "THE PEOPLE" of tabuk "overwhelmingly" approved the same. Last time i heard, there are more than fortyfour thousand (44,000)Tabuk voters. That means, even if you combine the "yes" and "no" votes it would still not constitute a majority of Tabuk's voting population. So please, stop saying that "cityhood" was overwhelmingly approved by the people because data shows otherwise.

What matters is the total votes cast... not the total registered voters. It is sad that those who did not vote, whether they are "Yes" or "No", were just lazy to vote, and they have foresweared their right of suffrage.

Let's all pray for the best.We hope that LGU officials will do all what they have promised to the people of Tabuk, especially to those who are in the far flung barrios. Not much promises to people of Bulanao Centro and Poblacion because people here know what cityhood would bring and would mean if we are not yet prepared for it in all aspects.

I am happy that Tabuk, my hometown, is now a city. Those who didn't vote, and are in favor of NO, the hell with you! You don't even have the right to live in the Tabuk because you're lazy to get involved in her affairs.
More power, Tabuk!!!
